Industry Performance

In the last six months, for the majority of our owners we have seen revenue performance more than double versus the first half of 2022.

The short-term rental market is experiencing a wealth of higher demand, and very little rate resistance. This has likely been brought about by two years of pent-up demand, lockdown fear dissipation, and Covid acceptance.

The majority of our results are being driven by domestic and Australian bookings. International demand has been growing since our border openings last July, and we expect to see this continue to climb as the year goes on.

The Stay Hub is very proud to be out-performing the market by up to 25% per month in terms of occupancy and often over 100% in revenue. One thing is abundantly clear - there has never been a better time to be in the short-term rental business!

We are aware that with higher rates comes higher expectations. To stay on top of our game, we have been introducing new initiatives including:

  • VIP amenities for higher rated reservations

  • Increased team of maintenance workers

  • Premium bedding packages for owners

  • Increased cleaning team and a new '100 Point Housekeeping Checklist'

  • Increased team of Property Managers

2022 Review

2022 was a year of two halves. The first giving us steady results, with the second seeing a significant upturn in demand. The occupancy for all of 2022 across the entire portfolio was an impressive 86%.

The Average Daily Rate (ADR) for 2022 was $239 for the year. This was achieved through an ADR of $190 in the first six months of the year and propped up by an increase to $279 in the back half.

Our impressive occupancy levels has meant that we have been able to increase our owners revenues by continually increasing ADR as the international market returns to our shores, translating into a very lucrative time to be in the short-term rental business. A quality property that is well-maintained and managed, providing a satisfying guest experience, is ultimately proving to be a source of quality return for our owners.
